Day 1: Johannesburg to Kruger National Park
Today our adventure begins by leaving Johannesburg around 7:30 and 8:30 (exact times to be confirmed closer to safari). As we travel, we pass some of the most beautiful scenery of South Africa along the way. From beautiful open fields to luscious green mountain landscapes. Our journey takes us through the highveld towards the stunning lowveld. We stop in this time to have something to eat (own expense) and get a chance to stretch our legs.
Once we reach the camp, we are welcomed by the team and shown to our accommodations. The Sabi River Lodge is conveniently located near Sabi Sand Game Reserve and 6km from the Paul Kruger Gate. An excellent location, expect to see wildlife on the foot steps of the camp. We have some time to unwind and soak in the magnificent South African bushveld around us as we get comfortable in our meru-style luxury tents.
After a short relaxation time we commence on our first Big 5 sunset game drive, experienced and qualified guides will take us on open 4x4 specially adapted game viewing vehicles to explore the world famous Kruger National Park. Have your cameras ready as we never know what sightings await us.
After we have enjoyed our game drive, we return to the Lodge for dinner. Tonight, we have our dinner in a specially designed dining area that affords us to experience a traditional South African meal set surrounded by open bush and a starlit sky.
Meals: Dinner
Included Highlight: Kruger Park open vehicle game drive – Sunset
Please note there is no electricity at our camp. You are able to charge mobile phones and camera equipment but hairdryers and fridges are not available.
Day 2 & 3: Kruger National Park
This morning, the golden hour, we wake up to the wildlife sounds of the serene African bush – a wonderful experience. We all gather together for a delicious cup of tea or coffee and safari snacks before we embark on another game drive in the park in open safari vehicles.
Usually a game drive is between 3 and 4 hours long and affords the chance to explore and learn more about the game and park. Hopefully we will spot the Big 5, lion, leopard, rhino, elephant and buffalo.
We return to the lodge via Paul Kruger Gate after our game drive and enjoy a delightful breakfast specially prepared by our outstanding chefs. We have some time to unwind at the camp before lunch.
Some of South Africa’s well-known animals roam around the camp borders during the time that you spend there. You can see elephant, buffalo, hippo, antelope, hyenas and leopards.
We meet at the dining tent for snacks before we set off. Hopefully we get to see some more animals that we haven’t seen yet. After the game drive we return to the lodge for dinner. The chefs will greet us and let us know what the menu is. This is a wonderful time to get to know the fellow guests and share our best moments of the day. We end the day and retire for a lovely night’s rest.
