Day 1: Johannesburg to Kruger Park Area
Our Kruger Park safari begins with collections from your hotel or OR Tambo, Johannesburg Airport if your flight is early enough. The Kruger Park, South Africa’s premier game reserve is located in the subtropical savannas of the low veld and provides ideal conditions for wildlife. The Kruger National Park is surrounded by private nature reserves and many of them have removed fences allowing wildlife to roam between the Kruger and private reserves. This whole area is known as the “Greater Kruger” and is ideal for safaris. Our first game drive is in the private reserve of Balule. Our drive continues into the evening and we have an opportunity to view nocturnal animals using spotlights. All game drives are conducted in open 4x4 vehicles. A traditional braai (barbeque) is enjoyed under the stars deep in the African bush. The night is spent at a comfortable lodge.
Note that the Balule Game Reserve is a Big 5 reserve and is connected to the Kruger Park. All fences have been removed to allow for the free roaming of animals.
