Itinerary
After pick-ups, we drive to The Cradle of Humankind, located north of Johannesburg (about 35 to 45-minutes’ drive from the
city). First stop is the famous Sterkfontein Caves for a 1-hour guided tour of the underground cave system. You’re taken on a fascinating journey deep under the earth to the place where the remains of some of our oldest ancestors have
been found.
Next stop is the Maropeng Visitors Centre in the striking Tumulus building for a tour of the world-class exhibition halls. Each hall takes you back in time to the first known traces of the human race. A highlight is a magical boat road through an artificial underground cave system and the interactive displays.
The tour doesn’t include lunch but you can grab a bite to eat and drink at the Tumulus restaurant which has the best views of the Cradle of Humankind. Your guide drives you back to the city and drops you off at your accommodation.
